If the assessment shows the pain isn’t dental, we still map out a plan. The usual next step is a referral to a specialist. For muscle problems, a head and neck physiotherapist can be very effective, using massage, exercises, and other techniques to ease tension. For more complex joint problems, you may need a consult with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon or a dedicated TMJ expert. In the meantime, simple self care can help. Note this fee covers diagnosis only. The cost of any follow up specialist TMJ treatment with a referred provider is separate and discussed with them. We accept private insurance from providers like Max Bupa, Denplan, and Cigna, which may cover the initial assessment.
